Question posed by : Why do people die from alzheimer’s disease?
What causes alzheimer’s patients to die and is the short term or long term memory affected first?
Most detailed answer:
Answer by Zachary
Alzheimer’s patients die because they simply forget the basic things like how to eat, or how to use the bathroom.
It is a very horrible thing to see and all memory is affected eventually. There are many ways to prevent this disease though.
The most important thing to do is exercise at least 1 hour a day. This is proven to lessen the chance of getting the disease.

Question posed by platform supporter: a friend with Alzheimer’s is certain people are stealing from her?
My friend with the AD diagnosis is hiding things around her house and then forgetting where she put them; she is convinced someone is entering her house and stealing from her. This includes money (last time was 2000 cash!), and objects, including a gun and now she says, a billyclub. WHat she had that for I have no idea. I have searched and searched with her for her money, and found little stacks of it here and there and pointed it out to her–”See, not stolen, just misplaced.” I have no idea what to tell her when she thinks she is being stolen from again and again; I have offered to take her shopping for a safe to bolt to the floor and asked her to keep all her money and things in one or two places ONLY, but she does not listen. I worry, as she has had her locks changed twice in the last two months. Nobody is coming in and stealing; SFAIK, the only people with access to her house are me, a few friends and a cleaning lady.
Does anyone have any advice about what to do?
the friends I mentioned above are her friends, also elderly like her. I seriously doubt they, or anyone, is robbing her. I guess maybe the only person I wonder about is the cleaning lady, but my friend insists she is never near where she keeps her money. I doubt her ability to recall things like that, though.
Any advice is appreciated, especially from anyone with a family member or friend going through the same thing.

Question posed by Billie: Does people who’s about to get Alzheimer’s disease have symptoms of dizziness & headache?
No 1 answer:
Answer by ashleywearsprada
no.. Alzheimer’s is a mental disease that develops over time.
they usually show signs of forgetfulness, and mood swings – anger, and depression. they’re usually not themselves. they talk about things that could have happened years ago. ie) seniors talking about wanting to see their parents.

A question from numbersnumberseverywhere: Is Alzheimer’s disease the proof that most people live in false hope?
The degredation of the mind due to Alzheimer’s disease proves that the mind and, resultantly, the human consciousness are both transient things.
Does this prove that most preconceived notions of an afterlife are fundamentally flawed? Most people believe that we will be able to perceive, evaluate and understand any kind of afterlife that may exist.
But clearly, as Alzheimers proves, the mind cannot possibly survive without a functioning human body. It is a possibility that a kind of eternal soul lives on, but, surely, if the consciousness dies then the thing that makes you an individual, self-aware human will cease also.
Opinions?

Why couldn’t a mind survive without a body? Look at Stephen Hawking….his body is a waste, but he’s one of the most brilliant minds since Einstein.

www.bluetreeservices.co.uk GPS tracker helps you find people who wander (Alzheimers, dementia, autism). It’s accurate and real time, saves a lot of heartache and police time. Also, convert a phone to a tracker.

AD is when people forget, not hallucinate. And it surely couldn’t be Schizophrenia. I have ruled these out, and I am not a doctor. She was taking 8 different type pills a day, now she is down to 3 type of pills a day. I have searched and searched on the internet to find some answers, but have not succeeded in finding anything. Does anyone know what else it could be? It is breaking my heart to see my grandma like that.
