dementia a symptom: the loss of memory. Alzheimers is a disease in which the patient is suffering from chronic, long term dementia. basically dementia is the name of what is happening to an alzheimers patient.
Dementia is the whole kettle of fish
Alzheimers is one type of dementia where at least they can pin it down as to what is causing the dementia
Alzehiemers is a subset of dementia might be the technical term
It might be said that all people who have alzheimers disease have dementia but not all dementia patients have alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) = is a slowly progressive form of dementia, which is a progressive, acquired impairment of intellectual functions. Memory impairment is a necessary feature for the diagnosis.
Change in one of the following areas must also be present for any form of dementia to be diagnosed: language, decision-making ability, judgment, attention, and other related areas of cognitive function and personality.
Dementia = refers to a group of symptoms involving progressive impairment of brain function. The two major degenerative causes of dementia are Alzheimer’s disease (the progressive loss of nerve cells without known cause) and vascular dementia (loss of brain function due to a series of small strokes). The two conditions often occur together, and vascular dementia may speed the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Neither condition can be diagnosed definitively until autopsy.
