I would put a padlock on your mail if the carer isn’t sympathetic towards you
How would charging her with mail theft make you feel better about the neglect of her care? You have no credibility.
Try having empathy.
I’m no expert, but probably. You can usually press charges just if someone opens your mailbox without reason. Also, it depends if she opened it or not. If she opened it, then you can most definitely press charges.
get a p o box
you cant charge her with mail theft she doesnt have the capacity to know right from wrong
call the cops when you see her wandering and report her care giver to social services
and have some empathy
to charge her you wold have to prove she knows what she is doing is wrong
she probably thinks its her
also you cant put a padlock on your mailbox thats illegal
Get yourself a locking mail box.. Then call Social Services on the Care Giver the elderly lady needs the best care she can get..
I guess you could contact the agency that the caregiver is from and talk to them about it. Another way is you could record your neighbor taking your mail on several occasions and show it to the caregiver.
Rather than attempting to charge a person with Alzheimer’s with mail fraud or theft, why not report the care giver for not taking care of the individual. The person with Alzheimer’s would not get anything over the charge nor would it correct the behavior, If the person is wondering the neighborhood without supervision while having a care giver, this is neglect because the individual could wander off or something could happen to them. You have to understand the person with Alzheimer’s does not understand what they are doing or that it is wrong and nothing you do will change that concept. The charges for mail theft would not go against the care giver and therefore no changes would happen.
