Holy ……
I went broke trying to do the right thing, It’s hard.
Look up a forum for support.
I guess you see we have a problem with healthcare and support, unless you are super rich.
Some people may live for many years, others may not. It depends at least partially on the cause of the dementia. Talk with your mother’s doctor. He or she should be able to make suggestions as to where you can get some help to care for your mother.
It really depends on what stage she is at. Is she still able to eat? Is she mobile?
Once her eating habits decline, and she becomes less mobile, her health will really start to decline.
My stepfather died from Early Onset Alzheimer’s, so I know your pain!
Keep yourself healthy! Definitely take advantage of your local community living association, and alzheimer society. (It doesn’t have to specifically be Alzheimer’s). They are a huge help.
it depends on the severity of progression of the disease and the medication some can live for years others just for months. I hope the best for you and I am sorry that you all have to go through that personal hell,
