It could have been a stroke.. I don’t think you should be too concerned. It usually starts out by forgetting little things (we all forget sometimes) but if he starts forgetting simple things or gets mildly confused doing an everyday task then you might need to be concerned…
Good luck to you and your husband!
Do you mean asthma? If so your doctor can diagnose it or send him to a pulmonoligist for an evaluation.
If you do mean alzheimers then rest assured, breathing difficulty is not an early symptom of that particular disease.
I think you have misunderstood what Alzheimer’s is. Alzheimer’s is a genetic neurological disorder where the neurons in a person’s brain stop working correctly and the brain is unable to recall or store information. Signs of Alzheimer’s in its early stages are an increased amount of short and long term memory loss. A person going through this might forget something they did early that same day. A person with Alzheimer’s in its late stages might not be able to recognize their own son or daughter or even realize that they have one.
If your husband has not been the same it is possible that he received brain damage from a lack of oxygen. 911 isn’t necessary but a doctor’s visit would be important to see if there is any damage.
Honestly I have never heard of Alzheimer’s causing a person to turn purple and have difficulty breathing. Depending on what you mean by “he has not been the same since” I would say you probably aren’t dealing with Alzheimer’s but a different condition. I would consult your husbands physician if his present condition troubles you because he/she could tell you more about what may be going on with him than someone online who has never seen or treated him. Best of luck.
