A question from Jannel H: Is it possible to get Alzheimer’s disease before your even thirty?
For a few year’s now I’ve felt like I’m getting more and more forgetful about things and I’ve told a doctor this and they told me not to worried about it but it’s still pretty unsettling for me because I do have a family history of Alzheimer’s disease but I’ve never herd of anybody ever getting it before thirty and I’m 27 so I’m wondering is that even possible or am I just being paranoid?

If you’re thinking, “I’ve got Alzheimer’s, I’ve got Alzheimer’s,” It’s gonna make your brain start thinking, “You’ve got Alzheimer’s, you’ve got Alzheimer’s. STOP REMEMBERING, BODY!!!!!”
So, i recommend not letting it bother you because if you tell your brain something is wrong, it’ll make something wrong.

You’re probably fine, but if it’s hereditary, it’s hereditary.

A question asked by Tater Salad!: How can you tell the difference between early stages of Alzheimer’s and ordinary old age forgetfulness?

Most comprehensive answer:

Answer by happydawg
Alzheimers disease is progressive and is more severe than old age forgetfulness.
I keep worrying I have Alzheimers because my mother had it and died when I was 29.
I get upset and cant find my billfold, I forget peoples names and cannot remember from 1 second to the next what I am doing. I just chalk it up to having a very stressful life as a nurse in a hospital 25 mi away from home.

A question asked by sarahbear: What is the longest somebody can live with dementia?
My mother is 61 years old and was just diagnosed with mild dementia. Its genetic in her family both of her parents suffered from it. My mother also has heart problems and suffers from depression as well. What is her life expectancy?

The No 1 answer:

Answer by gazeygoo
Her body is what will live on and this can be done without the mind. Look at folks that live for 20 years is coma or with minimal brain activity. Dementia is not a determining factor in expectancy, all factors must be considered.

What Would You Do if You Get Alzheimer’s Disease?

A question from D.J: What would you do if you get Alzheimer’s Disease?
Would you still want to live, would you still want to live now. You will get Alzheimer’s Disease when you get older. Then what. You will forget everything in life. You will forget how to eat, and how to use the bathroom, and everything else.

That is why I need to leave this world right now, so I would know the difference from being alive and being dead. I want to experience what it is like to be dead.

If the religious are right, killing yourself will result in eternal torment in the flames of Hell.
If the atheists are right, killing yourself will result in nothing much … just being “done.”
Have you ever been put out for surgery or dentistry? Do you remember what happened to you while you were out? I suspect death is kind of like that.
If I were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, I might do away with myself if I started having no joy in life. I’ve seen folks with Alzheimer’s, however, who (while they were a colossal pain in the rear to their kinfolk) seemed to have a pretty happy demeanor. That might not be so bad.
Intelligence is highly overrated as a route to happiness. Being a gorp might not be so bad.
If it turned out to be no fun, I might do something about it. Otherwise, I’d just go with the flow.

A question asked by Serious Sarcasm: At what age does Alzheimer’s disease can start to affect a human?
I just want to know how old so then I can warn people before I ever get Alzheimer’s disease, which if I get

Most comprehensive answer:

Answer by ledyardboi
There is no set age.

There are two types of alzheimers, regular, and early-onset.

Early onset can affect someone at any age in theory, but generally shows in the late 40′s-50′s crowd. As far as regular alzheimers, it can show any age beyond 60.

There is no cure for alzheimers disease, I lost a grandmother to it. Warning someone will do no good, if someone is diagnosed with the illness, then it just runs it’s course, the only thing family can do is be there for their loved one and help take care of them.

Question by majnun99: Aricept as a treatment for Alzheimer’s, does it help anybody?
My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and her doctors put her on Aricept. I don’t think it helped at all. I doubt if she had Alzheimer’s because she started to get dementia after she had a bout of congestive heart failure and got a pacemaker. I think the dementia was related to her heart problem. Also, the books I read about Alzheimer’s say the people who have it live for years and years and slowly deteriorate. My mother died within two years of getting the diagnosis and she deteriorated quickly–which also sounds more the way vascular dementia is described in the books I read. Maybe it’s better she died quickly, because it was so sad to see this intelligent woman lose her mind. But I digress, has anybody heard of anyone having positive results from Aricept? I don’t think it helped my mother; I wonder if it helped anybody else.

Yes…my aunt is on Aricept, and it drastically slowed the progression of Alzheimers, but unfortunately is not a cure

A question asked by Judi V: How do I prepare for TWO parents with Alzheimer’s disease?
I have been helping my dad take care of his wife who has Alzheimer’s disease for 3 months. All of a sudden it’s becoming obvious that the same thing is happening to my dad. He has been the one in control. What do I need to do to get prepared for BOTH of them being “lost?”

Chosen answer:

Answer by Catherine
That’s tough…but you can beat it. Pray for strength if you are a spiritual person. You can also go for counseling which should be beneficial to you. It will really take a toll on you so make sure you tell your friends and extended family what is going on as their support will be of great help. All the best!
